do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
This is just one occasion in the Bible where we are called to pray to our Father. Our sending organization, Mission to the World, is emphasizing prayer for world missions this month. They have created a prayer calendar (here) to help people pray for ministries and missionaries all over the world! We think this is an incredible idea, so we have decided to share with you ways in which you can pray for God's work through us in Honduras.
Mike will be tweeting out (it also goes to facebook) a praise or prayer request each day. We ask you to take a few minutes when you see these messages to lift up the work the Lord is doing in La Ceiba, Honduras.

Residents of Honduras
Yesterday Ashley and I officially became residents of Honduras!
About 3 months ago, we started the process to become residents. We weren't sure what to expect and how long it would take. Our lawyer told us it would not be too difficult and shouldn't take much time, but we were not very optimistic about this because we have seen how things work here in Honduras, especially with the government. We were pleasantly surprised with the ease and speed of the whole process. We should receive our carnets in about a month.
Yesterday we took a LONG trip to Tegucigalpa (the capital of Honduras) in order to sign papers. We left at 3 am and got back home at about 10 pm. It was a long day in the car, but we did what we needed to do.
Being residents will help us in a few ways in our ministry and regular life here. We have many more rights and we do not have to leave the country every three months in order to obtain a new visa. This will help from having the interruptions in ministries that came in the past when we had to leave in order to remain legal.
We are so thankful to the Lord for opening these doors to us! We have now been in Honduras for a little over 10 months and are excited about what the Lord is doing here. It is amazing that He gives us a front-row seat to His ministry to the people of Honduras!

Time with Gerson
Yesterday I was able to spend some time with Gerson, as I have been able to a lot in the last two months. He is 14 years old. I was talking with him yesterday and he told me he goes to church every Saturday and Sunday evening - by himself. He says he enjoys church and reading the Bible and talking about Jesus. So, I asked if we could meet regularly and study the Bible. He said that he would love it! So, I was able to set up a time that should work for both of us each week to read the Bible and talk about what God is saying.
I have been able to talk with Gerson a bunch in the last few months about life and God and soccer (of course), but this is what I was really hoping and praying for! God is awesome!
